Negotiations brokered by the Cambodian government over the firing of the casino resort Naga World (file photo) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, have concluded, a union representative told GGRA.
"None of the workers' demands were accepted or resolved at Wednesday's meeting of the Labor Department [and Vocational Training Department], but the Labor Department... Next Wednesday [June 30] at 9 a.m., the two sides asked to meet again," Sitarjim said on Friday in response to a query from the GGRA.
Mr. Chim's union, the "Naga World Khmer Workers' Rights Support Union," is calling on the casino resort's management to reverse its decision to fire and rehire some workers who have already been laid off.
Casino resort promoter Nagakov Inc Nagakov Inc confirmed pay cuts that have been in place since March, along with some layoffs at the complex on June 7. The company said at the time it was an "active step" to manage the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, as casino resorts had been closed since early March.
